New world class architects appointed for Sheringham

Tesco has announced the appointment of world renowned architects Wilkinson Eyre to produce new and improved designs for a supermarket on Cromer Road in Sheringham.
If approved, the new store will not only boost the town by creating over 120 local jobs and help families save money, time and effort but it will also attract additional shoppers to the town, helping other local businesses.
The plans will also deliver a new community centre for the town as well as a new fire station
Wilkinson Eyre - winner of two RIBA Stirling Prizes, the most prestigious award in British architecture - will make new designs for a smaller store. They are also the creators of the Rivermead Campus at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford and are now working on the East Forum at the University of Cambridge.
Nick Gellatly of Tesco said, "We are making new proposals because many people in and around Sheringham want a supermarket to open. The Planning Inspector's decision on our previous plans confirmed there was a need for a store in town and that the Cromer Road site was the right place.
"I'm certain the community wants a supermarket to open. Families and local people tell us they want a selection of good quality, well priced food and groceries close to home. Now is the time for them to have their voices heard, rather than waiting another 10 years."
Jim Eyre OBE, Director of Wilkinson Eyre Architects, said, "It is an exciting challenge for us to be asked to create a bespoke design for a new store that relates very well to the other shops and which, like many other buildings in Sheringham, will be ‘in its place'. We are carefully considering the character of the town as the plans are developed. It is obvious from what we have heard informally from Sheringham people that they care for their town a great deal. This is a very important site and we would like it to live up to its obvious potential".
"I'll be so pleased to see this site being developed"
