Following consultation with the community, Tesco has submitted new plans for a supermarket in Sheringham to North Norfolk District Council. The store will offer good value, choice and convenient food shopping, with around 150 new jobs.

Demonstration of Support for New Tesco Store at Sheringham Exhibition

Roughly a thousand Sheringham residents visited Tesco's exhibition of a range of plans for a possible new store in the town last week. The exhibition, which was held at Oddfellows Hall on Friday and Saturday, was aimed at giving local people more information about the proposed store. The plans outlined details for a store a quarter smaller than previously proposed.

Proposed Tesco Store to be a Quarter Smaller than Previous Plans

Tesco has today announced that the size of the proposed supermarket is about quarter smaller than the previous proposed store and will have about the same sales space as the popular Tesco supermarket in Aylsham.
Previous plans for a supermarket in Sheringham put the total building size of the store at 2,760m2. The new store will be about 2,100m2 and have a sales space of approximately 1,200-1,250m2 (the previous proposal was 1,500 m2).

Tesco Announces Consultation on new Store Plans
Tesco has announced a public exhibition to discuss its early proposals for a store in Sheringham next month.
The consultation with local groups and residents will take place on Friday 3rd April (10am - 8pm) and Saturday 4th (10am - 3pm) at Oddfellows Hall, 4 Lifeboat Plain, Sheringham. Everyone is welcome to join.
Members of the Tesco team will be available to discuss the plans and record comments from the community as part of the consultation process whilst the plans are developed.

Over 1,200 local residents support a new supermarket

Over 1,200 local people have expressed their support for a new supermarket in Sheringham, strongly suggesting a clear majority of residents support a new store in the town.
Tesco recently sent a leaflet to residents in and around the town asking them to get in touch if they supported a new supermarket. Over 900 wrote back or emailed saying they supported the project - a huge response to a mailing like this. Tesco has announced the appointment of world renowned architects Wilkinson Eyre to produce new and improved designs for a supermarket on Cromer Road in Sheringham.
If approved, the new store will not only boost the town by creating over 120 local jobs and help families save money, time and effort but it will also attract additional shoppers to the town, helping other local businesses.
